Vertical Waste Compactor is a sanitation equipment that compresses garbage in a vertical direction. Utilizing the principle of gravity, garbage is poured into a vertical container from top to bottom, and a hydraulic system drives a pressure head to apply pressure from above, compressing the loose garbage into high-density blocks.

Workflow 

Garbage is unloaded from the collection truck into the upper hopper.


It falls into the compression chamber under gravity.


The hydraulically driven pressure head compresses vertically downwards (pressure can reach 100-120 tons).


After compression, the garbage density reaches 0.9-0.96 tons/cubic meter, and the volume is reduced by approximately 70-80%.


A pusher pushes the compressed block into the storage bin or directly onto a truck for transport.


Structural Composition

Vertical Waste Compactor mainly consists of six systems:


1. Compression Unit


Frame: A four-column structure supporting the entire compression system.

Press Head: Hinged to the compression cylinder, moving up and down along the column guide rails.

Compression Cylinder: Provides vertical pressure, typically employing a three-cylinder relay design (patented technology) to reduce equipment height.

Compression Chamber: Located within the pit, it is the main area for waste compression and storage.


2. Hydraulic System


Composed of a hydraulic tank, pump, motor, control valves, and cylinders. Employs dual-pump operation: a low-flow, high-pressure pump (21MPa) is used during compression, while differential technology improves efficiency during rapid descent.


3. Electrical Control System


Utilizes PLC control for automated operation.

Equipped with a touchscreen for setting parameters, monitoring status, and fault diagnosis. Some high-end equipment supports remote monitoring and wireless remote control.


4. Auxiliary Systems


Sewage Discharge System: Collects leachate generated during compression and discharges it into the wastewater treatment system through dedicated pipelines.


Odor Control System: Controls odor diffusion through spray deodorization, activated carbon adsorption, or biological filters.


Flushing System: Regularly cleans equipment and floors within the station to maintain hygiene.



 Run Process

  1. Loading: Waste is fed into the compression chamber housed within the pit.

  2. Compression: A hydraulic ram applies repeated top-down compaction to the waste, with the resulting leachate discharged directly into the municipal sewage system.

  3. Storage: Once compressed into high-density waste bales, the compacted material is transferred into a storage hopper via a push-feed mechanism.

  4. Transfer: The storage hopper interfaces with a waste transfer vehicle, which then pushes the compacted bales into the vehicle’s sealed compartment to complete the transfer procedure.

  5. Cleaning: Post-operation, automated spray deodorization and equipment sanitization are conducted, ensuring a fully sealed, leak-proof workflow at all stages.
