The underground garbage classification collection system is a new type of waste treatment model that relocates the garbage collection facilities from the ground to underground. It achieves garbage classification, temporary storage and transfer through closed pipelines, underground storage chambers, and automated equipment. Its core advantages include space saving, environmental improvement, efficiency enhancement, and safety and hygiene.

1. Significantly saves ground space and is suitable for high-density urban environments.

In the urban core areas, old residential areas or commercial zones where land resources are scarce, ground-based garbage sorting stations often occupy a large amount of public space and may be too close to residential buildings or shops, causing conflicts.

The underground system fundamentally solves this problem:

Space invisible utilization: Only a small collection port needs to be set on the ground, while the core storage bins, sorting equipment, and transfer channels are located underground, not occupying the ground activity space and not affecting the greenery, road planning or commercial layout of the community.

Adaptation to complex terrain: For areas with narrow terrain and saturated ground planning, the underground system can flexibly utilize vertical space to avoid the problem of no place to place ground facilities.

2. Significantly improves environmental hygiene

Traditional ground-based garbage stations generally have problems such as odor diffusion, mosquito breeding, leakage of leachate, and visual pollution. The underground system reduces pollution from the source through closed and automated design:

Odor and gas control: Underground storage bins are equipped with negative pressure ventilation systems and deodorization devices. Garbage odors are collected and treated centrally, not spreading to the ground environment; some systems will also conduct sealed and constant temperature control for the biodegradable garbage bins to further inhibit odor generation.

Elimination of leachate pollution: The bottom of the underground bin is equipped with a waterproof layer and leachate collection pipeline. The wastewater generated by the garbage is directly introduced into the urban sewage network, avoiding the leakage of leachate from traditional garbage stations that pollutes the soil, groundwater or ground roads.

Reduction of mosquitoes and visual interference: The enclosed underground environment isolates garbage from contact with the outside world, fundamentally reducing the breeding of bacteria such as flies and rats; the ground only retains clean classification collection ports, without the visual dirtiness and mess caused by garbage accumulation, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the area.

3. Improve classification and transfer efficiency, and reduce labor costs

The underground system is usually integrated with automation technology, which simplifies the waste sorting process, reduces manual intervention, shortens the waste transportation chain, and improves the overall processing efficiency.

Guide precise classification: The ground collection ports are clearly divided according to the types of garbage (recyclables, kitchen waste, hazardous waste, other waste). Some of the collection ports are equipped with intelligent recognition devices. If the garbage is placed incorrectly, it will be promptly reminded, helping residents develop the habit of correct classification and improving the classification accuracy rate.

Automated storage and transfer: The underground storage chambers are equipped with capacity sensors. When the garbage reaches the set capacity, the system will automatically alarm and start the transfer process - there is no need for frequent manual inspections. Some systems use underground conveyors or dedicated transfer vehicles to directly transport the garbage from the underground chambers to the urban garbage transfer stations, avoiding the repeated entry and exit of ground garbage trucks into the community and reducing traffic interference.

Reduce manual labor intensity: Traditional ground stations require manual sorting, cleaning, and transfer. The labor intensity is high and there is a risk of contact with contaminants. The underground system only requires regular equipment maintenance, significantly reducing the frequency of direct human contact with garbage and lowering the risk for sanitation workers.

4. Safety and compliance, reduction of secondary pollution

The open or semi-open environment of traditional garbage stations is prone to causing problems such as garbage scattering, fire hazards, and children accidentally touching the garbage. However, the underground system, through its enclosed design and safety management, significantly enhances safety.

Fire prevention: The underground storage facility is constructed with flame-retardant materials and is equipped with smoke detectors and automatic fire extinguishing devices to prevent fires caused by garbage accumulation.

Reduction of secondary transportation pollution: In the traditional model, garbage needs to be manually transported from the residents' disposal points to the ground garbage station, and then transferred to large transfer vehicles. During this process, there is a risk of garbage scattering and leakage of filtrate. The underground system realizes the full closed connection of disposal, storage, and transfer, eliminating the need for garbage to be exposed on the ground during transportation, thereby reducing secondary pollution at the source.

The underground garbage classification collection system addresses the problems of the traditional garbage collection model in terms of space, environment, efficiency and safety. It is particularly suitable for modern cities with scarce land, dense population and high requirements for environmental quality.
